De-Stressing Today’s High School Experience: Creating New Possibilities!

Stress, anxiety, overwhelm—these words have become all too common for high school families. Some of this stress is natural, a byproduct of teens finding their way and undertaking a rigorous educational process. Much of it, however, is avoidable. Join three expert educational and mental health professionals for a discussion on how parents can help their teens have a more enjoyable high school experience! Each speaker will briefly address this topic from their unique vantage point, followed by a Q&A with the entire panel. Pamela Willsey, LICSW, PCC—Pamela is a licensed psychotherapist, certified life coach, and best-selling author of Packing For Success: A Thrival Guide For Young Women Navigating Life’s Transitions. Her Boston-based company, Willsey Connections, specializes in helping girls and young women navigate the trials and challenges of growing up. This means supporting them as they bridge the gap between surviving and thriving by bolstering their self-confidence and social-emotional skill sets. Pamela is also a mother of two grown children and has learned much along the journey as both a therapist and a parent. Jay Bacrania—Jay is the Owner and CEO of Signet Education, a tutoring, test prep, admissions consulting, and academic coaching company based in Cambridge, MA. Having seen the trajectories of thousands of high school and college students over the last decade, Jay has discerned patterns common to both successful and unsuccessful students.  Katherine Stievater—Katherine is a gap year advisor and founder of Gap Year Solutions, based in Belmont, MA. She helps students build a customized plan for a year off between high school and college, with a focus on taking a break from formal academic study and acquiring important life skills. Katherine shares her passion for the possibilities of gap years with audiences across the U.S.
