      Passover Makeover: The Gefilte Manifesto Master Class

      Join Jeffrey Yoskowitz and Liz Alpern, co-authors of The Gefilte Manifesto: New Recipes for Old World Jewish Foods, as they demonstrate some of their favorite Passover recipes and share their unique brand of reimagining Old World Jewish Foods. Liz and Jeffrey will dig deep into the Ashkenazi Jewish kitchen, exploring the culinary wisdom behind gefilte fish and horseradish pairing and the multiple gradations of schmaltz, among other topics. Tastings will include chopped liver served two ways, their one-of-a-kind herbed gefilte fish terrine, and carrot citrus horseradish. The event is followed by a book signing and reception featuring samples of recipes from The Gefilte Manifesto. Cookbooks will be available for sale with your ticket or onsite during the post-demonstration signing and reception.  About Gefilteria THE GEFILTERIA was founded in 2012 with a manifesto and the express mission of reimagining and revitalizing Old World Jewish foods and inspiring a new generation to get in the kitchen. The culinary venture produces Jewish food experiences, curating dining events and leading cooking classes and workshops around the world. The Gefilteria is famous for manufacturing its much sought after limited runs of artisanal gefilte fish. Co-founders Liz Alpern and Jeffrey Yoskowitz co-authored the widely acclaimed cookbook, The Gefilte Manifesto: New Recipes for Old World Jewish Foods (Flatiron Books). About Jeffrey Yoskowitz Jeffrey Yoskowitz is a food entrepreneur and a writer who co-founded The Gefilteria, a culinary venture reimagining Old World Jewish foods best known for manufacturing its renowned artisanal gefilte fish, producing high quality dining events around the world, and offering engaging Jewish cooking classes and workshops. Jeffrey co-authored The Gefilte Manifesto cookbook (Flatiron Books, 2016), which was named a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award and a top cookbook of the year by USA Today and Epicurious. As a thought leader in food, Jeffrey’s writings on food and culture appear in major publications, such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, among others. He has cooked as a guest chef at the esteemed James Beard House kitchen and was named to Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 list in Food and Wine, as well as The Forward 50. About Liz Alpern Liz Alpern’s career in food is driven by her passion for bringing people together. Based in Brooklyn, Liz travels around the globe as a cook, recipe tester, educator and entrepreneur. Alpern holds an MBA from Baruch College and is a faculty member in the Culinary Entrepreneurship Program at the International Culinary Center in NYC. She is a consultant for national food justice organization, Fair Food Network and the creator of the culinary fundraiser, Queer Soup Night. She been featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for food and wine and was named one of the Forward 50 for 2016. FAQs What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Tickets are refundable up to seven days before an event and transferable to another student at any time. Within seven days of the event, we do not offer refunds. Is this a hands-on or demonstration event? This is a demonstration cooking class, followed by a book signing and light reception featuring recipes from The Gefilte Manifesto.
