When Onein3 rebranded as SPARK Boston in 2016, the then-Council made a concerted effort to provide more for Boston’s millennials than bar meetups and other social events. Millennials around the city had concerns and questions about city decisions, but did not know who made those decisions or how to participate, often airing grievances to Council members, 311 call-takers, Twitter, and other public avenues. To bridge the gap between civic mystery to knowledge and engagement, the Chief Chat series was born.In January, we're excited to chat with Marty Martinez, Chief of Health and Human Services about his cabinet, career, and immigration in Boston. We're interested in learning what the city is doing to serve our immigrant resident population, such as explaining public charge and how the Walsh administration is challenging it, reducing barriers to citizenship, and creating a community and culture inclusive to immigrants Join SPARK Boston, the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Advancement, and the Health & Human Services Cabinet for thoughtful conversation, delicious food available for purchase, and connecting with other Boston millennials and friends from Chinatown.
