The event, sponsored by V is for Veterans, a local organization that presents events for groups throughout New England providing services for Veterans will be doing this show as a benefit concert for PAARI ( and Guitars for Vets, ( The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) is an organization started locally to assist those people working on the front-lines assisting those suffering with opiate addiction. While, Guitars 4 Vets (G4V), local operation, deals with Vets suffering with PTSD through the power of music instruction. These organizations could not seem more different, but both actually deal with a base of people suffering from many of the same issues.

Cafferty and the band, New England favorites, are best known for their movie soundtrack to “Eddie and the Cruisers”, which featured band member Michael “Tunes” Antunes in one of the roles. Hits include “On the Dark Side”, “Tender Years” along with “Hearts on Fire” featured in the movie “Rocky IV”.

The evening will also feature Barry Goudreau’s Engine Room, as the co-headliner. Goudreau, a rock guitar legend and former member of the multi-platinum selling band, Boston, defined the classic rock guitar sound for a generation. The band featuring Brian Maes and Tim Archibald both of Peter Wolf’s “House Party Five”, Tony Dipietro, Mary Beth Maes, Terri O’Soro and Joanie Cicarelli are hitting the road throughout New England in support of their new CD “Full Steam Ahead”. The CD best described as a look back to the acts of the late sixties and early seventies when they were reinventing the blues in new and exciting ways. Barry learned to play lead guitar playing along with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band’s records and then Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin and other English acts with big guitar and big drum sounds. The Allman Brothers, Delaney and Bonnie along with Derek and the Dominos were also big influences on his playing style. Barry says, “I think we achieved that feel on this record”.

In addition to the band’s new material they will be playing songs touching on all of the acts Goudreau has been involved with over the years, covering songs from his time in Boston, to his solo recordings with Orion the Hunter, RTZ and Delp/Goudreau. Goudreau says “this will be the first time he has performed songs from all of the acts he has been part of and is really looking forward to it."

To showcase an example of this success a graduate of this remarkable program, along with a friend, will be opening this event. These performers, because in this sense that is what they have become are called “Jack and John” and have said they look forward to the opportunity to participate in such a great event and look forward to sharing the experience of their performing
